Position Summary:
Vance County High School is seeking a dedicated Hall and Grounds Monitor to help maintain a focused, distraction-free learning environment by reducing unnecessary hall traffic and assisting with campus oversight. This role is essential in ensuring students remain in classrooms, contributing to a safe, learner-friendly atmosphere. The ideal candidate will support instructional goals by providing occasional in-class teacher relief and performing various tasks as requested by the principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hallway and Bathroom Monitoring
    • Regularly walk through hallways and bathrooms during school hours to minimize hallway traffic, keep students in classrooms, and promote a conducive learning environment.
    • Conduct regular sweeps of the bathrooms, ensuring a clean and orderly space, free of loitering.
  2. Grounds Oversight
    • Monitor staff and student parking lots and other campus grounds for appropriate behavior and student safety.
    • Provide an additional presence on the grounds to foster a respectful environment and address any issues in collaboration with school staff.
  3. Classroom Support
    • Step into classrooms as needed to provide brief coverage for teachers, allowing them to attend to other duties without disrupting instructional time.
    • Assist teachers with light classroom tasks as directed by the principal to support instructional continuity.
  4. Additional Duties
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the principal to ensure the effective operation of the school and a positive learning environment.

This position requires walking, standing, and being outdoors at times. The Hall and Grounds Monitor will be an active, visible presence around campus and should be comfortable with both indoor and outdoor oversight responsibilities.
